The Board of Trustees of the Gemmological Institute of India consists of very pragmatic and highly dynamic personalities from the Gem & Jewellery Industry who are the backbone of GII. The Board members are representatives from GJEPC, BDB, DEAL, GJEA and MDMA. Thus GII is truly a representative body of the Indian Gem Industry:

CEO - GII

M.Sc. PhD (Retd. From B.A.R.C as Head, Analytical Chemistry Division, He is internationally renowned (Nuclear & Analytical) scientist with 41 years of R&D experiences. In Nov 2018 he joined in GII and presently looks after GII activities including R&D

Mr. Kirti P. Das

Head - Administration / Finance Management. - Administration

(Retd. Indian Navy)- MBA-IRM
He retired from Indian Navy in the year 2002 and worked with various corporate sectors i.e. (BPO/IT/Architect) in senior Administrative positions. Presently working with GII since Aug 2011 and looks after Administration / HR/ Finance Management etc.

Head- Education Department & Senior Gemmologist

Mr. Mahesh P. Gaonkar

Head - Research & Development Department & Deputy Chief Gemmologist.

Head - Diamond Grading & Mobile Lab Services
