1) 7th International Conference on Luminescence and Applications (ICLA-2023) was held during July 3-6, 2023, in CSIR-Indian Institute of Chemical Technology (CSIR – IICT), Hyderabad. About 250 delegates attended the conference. Technical content consisted of a large number of invited talks, oral presentations and Poster Presentations and covered various aspects of Luminescence and its applications.
Dr. V.V. Jaiswal, R&D, GII has presented our results on “The effect of heat on SiV– intensity in CVD diamonds”. PL measurements in this work were carried out using Confocal Raman Microscope. Our work was well received and appreciated. Dr. Jaiswal, by attending ICLA 2023 has got an opportunity to interact with various experts and peers.
2) 73rd Diamond Conference was held in University of Warwick, Coventry, UK during 10-13 July 2023. It is an annual international community meeting on Diamond Spectroscopy and its applications. About 180 delegates attended the meeting. Technical content consisted of three plenary talks, 33 oral presentations and 38 poster presentations. Our work on developing a methodology to determine the color grades of Type Ia diamonds was presented by Dr. A.V.R Reddy. To develop the methodology, GII investigated about 400 Diamonds and measurements were carried out using IR, Visible and Raman spectroscopy. Based on this work, a methodology was proposed by us to determine the color grade of diamonds. Participants, particularly seniors appreciated the work and methodology. However, this methodology needs to be tested by measuring UV-vis absorption spectra of a large number of diamonds. Discussions throughout the meeting have been intense and focused.
